A Note from the Principal –

Dear Wilson Families!

This past month we have celebrated an amazing Knowledge Fair, successful Fun Run, music concerts, Family Reading night, and much more. Thank you so much to our volunteers and participants with these community-wide events and programs!

Let us grow! It is an exciting time at Wilson as we are planning to install a garden on the south side of our campus (near the bike racks) this spring and summer. We have a partnership with the Corvallis Environmental Center and the Corvallis Parks and Recreation District, which will provide grant funding and programs to help build our garden. Once installed, they will also support Wilson with teaching and learning opportunities to enhance science and health education for our Wildcats. We are excited to build our garden as it closely aligns with our district and school vision for wellness. I will provide updates as we see our vision for Wildcat Garden come to fruition.

At our recent PTA meeting, I gave an update, which included information about our literacy adoption process. We have several representatives from Wilson working with our district and it has been narrowed down to two choices that we are currently piloting. I am grateful to have updated materials for our students, which matches our current core standards of reading meaningful literature as well as more complex texts that provide facts and background knowledge in areas such as science and social studies. This focus on critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills are required for success in college, career, and life.

Go Wildcats!

– Mr. Beasley

April Tasting Tables Featuring Kale!

Mark your calendars! This month at Tasting Tables (during the week of April 9th) children at your school will have the chance to try locally grown Kale! Volunteers at each school will be handing out samples of Kale Caesar Salad at the Tasting Table in the cafeteria. Be sure to ask your child how she/he liked it! This kale was grown right here in Corvallis, at Gathering Together Farm!
