A Note from the Principal –

Dear Wildcat Families!

Welcome back to school as we begin 2019. It was a joy to launch into the winter break with our annual sing-along, celebration awards, and popcorn at our school-wide assembly. Our character trait for January of GRIT (showing passion and perseverance over time) was introduced. Nature gives us great examples to teach our students virtue, so we shared a video about winter animals and how they show GRIT in overcoming obstacles such as harsh weather. Many of our students at Wilson work through barriers and challenges to work toward goals to make growth in skills.

In the upcoming months, we are excited to have our Dance of the Decades, Family Reading Night, concerts, and other fun. We love the big turnouts we get for activities at Wilson. In addition to special events, I appreciate the work of our staff and volunteers to our chess club, choir, Wildcat Club, and more.

Thank you, families, for continuing to support our Wellness challenge! We have raised nearly $2000 (half the cost) of our monthly cooking program. Congratulations to Mrs. Boock and Mrs. Apples classes for being selected for an additional Wildcat recess for this month for participation in the fitness calendar tracking challenge. One outcome we are monitoring is our school-wide attendance. 79% of our students last year were considered regular attenders (attending school 90%+). Let’s work together and make a jump on our report card with increased regular attendance!

Go Wildcats!

Get those shoes ready the Fun Run is coming!

February 19th to February 22nd during the school day

The Fun Run takes place during your students regularly scheduled P.E. time and is a big fundraiser for the Wilson PTA. The PTA has been able to use the money that is raised to purchase swing sets, a climbing wall and other playground equipment for our Wilson students. During the Fun Run the students run around the gym to music, volunteers count laps, and everyone enjoys water and a snack at the end of their session. It is a great event that not only the students, but staff participate in as well. If you are able to volunteer, you never know who you might see running.

Volunteers are needed for set up, lap counting, packet pickup, as well as clean-up. ***For more information on these events or to sign-up please go to Wilsonpta.org or contact us at WilsonPTA.or@gmail.com
